Anonymous asked: Thank you very much for taking the time to answer.

No worries Anon!

Anonymous asked: Is there any particular reason why you favour black and white so much over color?

This is a good question. There are actually a few reasons:

1. Black and white just seems to work for me. Most colour photographs don’t come out the way I see a scene. I’ve often wondered if my colour vision is skewed somehow…

2. I can get more accurate and reproducible results with B&W, especially when using film. I can only get negative colour (C41) film developed locally at a department store, and I’ve had some really dodgy results from there. For transparency (E6) film and 120 sized C41 I need to mail it off to a lab in Brisbane, some 600-odd kilometers away. And developing colour film myself is an absolute pain. With B&W film I check the temperature of the developer and adjust the time accordingly.

3. A lot of the local environment around where I live is not conducive to good colour photography. The light here is exceptionally harsh, and bleaches the colour from things.

I hope this answers your question, anon. I wonder where you’re from - I’m guessing Australia because of your English spelling of favour but your American spelling of colour.
